It is without a doubt the most spectacular seaside location on the south coast of Sicily and among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean region.
The landscape of the Scala dei Turchi is dominated by a large ridge of white rock that has been etched by the wind, has acquired a form, similar to large steps, made in layers. The beaches below are made up of long but narrow strips of golden sand where you can comfortably sunbathe.
The waters are also characterized by white stone which radiates gorgeous colors, from light blue to turquoise, they have nothing to envy in comparison to the Polynesian Islands or the Maldives.
The name seems to derive from the fact that during the sixteenth century the Turks made the whole area the stronghold for their acts of piracy in the Strait of Sicily.
Today, the city is finally gaining the recognition it deserves among the preferences of the seaside by Italian and foreign tourists.
