The Beach of Caucana

Between Punta Secca and Marina di Ragusa, is the fraction of Caucana, a seaside town of ancient origins: it was the site of a settlement by the exiles of Kamarina, who escaped the destruction of their city in 258 BC. From this period are evident traces of its history in the Archaeological Park of Kaukana.

It became an important port city, so much so as to accommodate the fleet of the Byzantine general Belisarius before his departure for the conquest of North Africa in 533 AD, and which was then occupied by the Vandals.

The beach is wide and much appreciated by vacationers for its beautiful clear waters and its size that allows you to find a place even during busy periods.
