The coast of Pachino covers the entire southern tip of Sicily, below the parallel of Tunis, so as to have different natural features that resemble the coast of North Africa.
The beauty of this stretch of coastline together with present varieties of shorelines will not disappoint you for sure: long coasts interrupted by large rocky ridges that form caves and beaches, it is the theme that is repeated all along this side. The main beach of Portopalo is the Scalo Mandrie, with the remains of the old tuna fishery and Isola di Capo Passero that characterize the beautiful natural surroundings.
The whole area has become a popular destination in recent years by Italian and foreign tourists. For seafood lovers, we must remind that Porto Palo boasts one of the most active fishing fleets in all of Sicily, providing fresh fish to most of the eastern coast of Sicily.
Further south, however, after leaving behind the beaches of Pozzo Ferrera, Punta Nipro, Pilieri, Cala Cigarette and Vallonia, you can enjoy the scenery of the Island of Currents, a small island that can also be reached on foot at low tide, the last outpost of Sicily.
As you can easily guess from the name, this place is a meeting point of different streams of water favored by the wind; its waters make it one of the favorite places for lovers of kite surfing and windsurfing.
