Salina, at the center of the Aeolian Islands, is second in size and number of inhabitants. Its almost rectangular form is due to the two lava cones that constitute it; both have been extinct for a long time. The lack of volcanic phenomenon, together with the abundance of fresh water, makes the island of Salina the greenest of the Aeolian archipelago.
The island’s name seems derived from a small coastal lake, located in the southern tip of the island, once used for its salt. While enjoying the enviable habitats, natural trails of the highest esteem, and a sea rich in fish, Salina enjoys a certain peace even during periods of maximum tourist inflow. It is good for those looking for sun, nature and relaxation.
